🍺 Great American Beer Festival

Running today through Saturday, October 9 - 11 at the Colorado Convention Center, GABF brings over 1,500 beers from 500+ breweries under one roof. New this year: a Distilling Experience featuring 20 distilleries pouring whiskeys, vodkas, and gins alongside the beer. Sessions run Thursday and Friday evenings (5:30 - 9:30pm) and Saturday afternoon (12:30 - 4:30pm), with costume contests, stein-hoisting competitions, and live performances on the new Mile High Stage. Tickets are ~$100 per session or $220 for a three-day pass and don't seem sold out yet. It's overwhelming in the best way - just pace yourself and expect to discover breweries you've never heard of.

🎃 Pumpkin Festival at Chatfield Farms

Running Friday through Sunday, October 10 – 12 from 9am – 4pm, this one-weekend-only event draws over 35,000 people to the 10-acre pumpkin patch at Chatfield Farms in Littleton. Your timed-entry ticket (buy online in advance) includes access to the corn maze and a punch card for 10 activities - carnival games, inflatable slides, face painting, balloon artists, and hayrides. Pumpkins cost extra (around $8 average) and are cash/card only, so bring a wagon to haul your picks. Free pumpkin daycare holds your gourds while you explore. It's one of those fall traditions that feels worth the crowds if you go prepared: arrive at your ticketed time, wear good shoes for uneven terrain, and expect a full day of activity rather than a quick in-and-out.

👻 Ghosts in the Gardens

The Denver Botanic Gardens' York Street location goes dark for spine-tingling after-hours tours on select October nights (10-12, 17-19, and 30) from 5:30-10:30pm. These aren't your typical haunted house jump-scares - instead, you'll hear the actual haunted history of the gardens as you walk the grounds after sunset. The storytelling approach makes it accessible for those who want spooky atmosphere without being terrified, though the darkness and tales of the past create genuine chills. It's a unique way to experience the gardens you might have visited dozens of times during daylight hours. Tickets sell out quickly for this popular annual event, so don't wait.
